If you haven't heard or seen the Feinstein name in Rhode Island then you haven't been in Rhode Island very long.
Mr. Feinstein is a philanthropist who has devoted his "retirement" to promoting the academic and charitable achievements of others. His foundation seems to find its way into every corner where a need can be found. Mr. Feinstein always includes Ranger on his tour of area schools. (He visits MANY MANY schools.) The smallest voices may feel as though they have enormous strength when he is involved.
The Feinstein Junior Scholar Program...the challenge is to "help others."
Each Fall, during a school-wide assembly, students are given their Feinstein Junior Scholar cards for that particular school year. Sometimes, Mr. Feinstein brings other treasures and artifacts along which the children may eventually keep. The collectable stamp (pictured above) from Guyana was his most recent gift to each of Ranger's students with a face value of $50 each.
The part he seems to enjoy the most is the Q + A with the kids and looking for a Feinstein sweatshirt in the crowd. During one of his pep-talks, Mr. Feinstein eventually focuses like a laser on the message of how children can do "good deeds," help others every day, and make a difference in the lives of others people
He also talks about the good deeds of individual youngsters on his weekly TV show, Our Great Kids, on Ch 8 (COX Cable) Saturdays at 12noon and Sundays at 10:30am. The show is only about 10 minutes long so don't be late! He reads letters from kids in our area and congratulates them on their Good Deeds.
